Building the Future of Texas Trucking
The TXTA Foundation was established in 1978 to fund education and research projects for the Texas trucking industry. The Foundation is governed by a Board of Trustees. The mission of this all volunteer organization is to work with TXTA member companies to fund educational and community service programs to enhance the understanding of and image of the Texas trucking industry, with the ultimate goal of positioning trucking as the most vital and necessary industry in Texas.
Eligibility
- TXTA Affiliation - dependent, child, spouse and/or grandchild of current TXTA carrier or allied member company in good standing
- Current Student - High school senior, graduate or equivalent, or current university or college student
- Previous scholarship recipients may apply if eligibility standards are met
- Full-Time Enrollment - Minimum 12 hours per semester at a university, college or community college

- Transcript - most recent high school or college transcript
- Recommendations - One to three recommendation forms from non-familial sources, such as a teacher, counselor or supervisor. Applicant will send the recommendation form through Submittable to the reference.
Application Review Applications are reviewed by the TXTA Foundation Board of Trustees; scholarships are awarded based on personal narrative, academic achievement, community involvement, financial need as well as other qualifications. Scholarship funds will be mailed directly to the school upon verification of full-time enrollment; funds are divided equally between the fall and spring semesters of the 2026-2027 academic year and may be used to meet such expenses as tuition, books and housing.
The deadline for submitting applications is Friday, March 20, 2026. The deadline will not be extended.
Applicants are responsible for ensuring all supporting documents are submitted. Applications that do not have the required materials, including recommendations, will not be considered. Previous applicants should not submit personal narratives or recommendation forms from prior applications. However, you may use the same recommender, provided the recommendation form is newly written.

Eligibility
- Individuals looking to become diesel technicians or earn their commercial drivers license
- Affiliated with a TXTA member company in good standing or enrolled at a school verified and approved by the TXTA Foundation. The currently approved schools are Amarillo College, Angelina College, ATDS Trucking School, Del Mar College, Houston Community College, Laredo College, SAGE Truck Driving School - San Antonio, Texas State Technical College and Vernon College.
- Previous scholarship recipients may apply if eligibility standards are met
- Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or a Permanent Resident. Applicants must prove their status with either a U.S. birth certificate, U.S. passport, Permanent Resident Card, Certificate of Citizenship or Naturalization Certificate.
- Previous scholarship applicants that were not approved are eligible to reapply after six months

- Recommendation Forms: One to three letters from non-familial sources, such as a supervisor, previous employer, or teacher. Recommendation forms must be submitted within two weeks of applicant submitting application. If your recommendation form is not submitted within two weeks, your application will not be considered.
- Personal Narrative: Your personal narrative is an important part of your application and carries significant weight in the trustees' scoring process. This is your opportunity to share your story and why you are passionate about becoming a diesel technician or pursuing a CDL. It's how the trustees get to know who you are, what drives you and why this career path is meaningful to you.
- Resume: Applicants should include a resume outlining work history, responsibilities, and achievements. If you do not have formal work experience, please submit a resume highlighting school achievements, extracurricular involvement, volunteer work, or community activities
- Once your application is submitted, all supporting documents—including letters of recommendation, proof of U.S. citizenship or permanent residency, and any additional documents or corrections requested—must be received within two weeks.
Incomplete applications will be denied after the two-week period. Applicants whose applications are denied may reapply after six months.
Application Review
Applications are reviewed by the TXTA Foundation Board of Trustees; scholarships are awarded based on personal narrative, financial need as well as other qualifications. Scholarship funds will be mailed directly to the school upon verification of enrollment; funds may be used to meet such expenses as tuition, books and housing. Applicants can apply for up to $2,500 from the TXTA Foundation for Trade and Technical Scholarships.
